OUR STORY
My name is Paulette Hegseth, an American-born farmer raised in a family where open fields and long days shaped who I became. My father often worked in Germany, and during those years I spent meaningful time there. Those trips changed my life they introduced me to a new culture and, eventually, to the man I would marry. 
Jonas Von Eriek, a former Porsche engineer, owned a German Shorthaired Pointer when we met. That dog was my first true experience with the breed, and its intelligence, loyalty, and steady temperament made a lasting impression on both of us.
When Matthias and I later moved to America with our children, we knew we didn’t want city life. We wanted land. Quiet. Purpose. We settled in rural America, returning to the kind of farming roots I grew up with. Surrounded by livestock, wide pastures, and the rhythm of country life, we founded Pointmaster Gundogs in 2019 a breeding program built on quality, honesty, and respect for the breed’s German heritage.
Today, Pointmaster Gundogs continues to deliver exceptional German Shorthaired Pointers. We breed selectively, ethically, and with a strong focus on health, temperament, and natural ability. Our puppies grow up on a working farm alongside cattle, other animals, and our family, becoming well-socialized, confident, and adaptable from the start.
Pointmaster Gundogs is the result of two worlds coming together American farming tradition and German precision shaping dogs born for both companionship and performance.

At Pointmaster Gundogs, our goal is simple and unwavering: to produce the finest German Shorthaired Pointers for active families and dedicated hunters. Every decision we make every pairing, every litter, every hour spent raising our puppies serves that single purpose. 
We believe a true GSP should be more than a hunting dog and more than a family companion. It should be both. A dog with the athletic drive to perform in the field and the steady, loyal temperament to settle comfortably inside the home. This balance is the heart of our breeding program.
Our dogs come from carefully selected lines chosen for health, intelligence, versatility, and strong natural instincts. Puppies are raised on our rural farm, where they experience real-life environments from an early age. They grow up around children, livestock, open spaces, and daily activity, shaping pups that are confident, adaptable, and ready for any role their future family needs.
For hunters, we aim to produce dogs that carry the classic GSP qualities clean pointing instincts, keen noses, endurance, and the drive to work hard in the field. For families, we focus on calm, reliable temperaments, strong bonding ability, and the kind of loyalty that makes the breed truly special.
